  About St. Lucia

St. Lucia, still an un spoilt island In the Caribbean is a sparkling jewel of sunshine and sandy beaches nestled between Martinique and St. Vincent with Barbados some 90 miles to its southeast.

St. Lucia lies approximately 1,300 miles southeast of Florida or more accurately, between 60° west longitude and 13° and 14° north latitude.

St. Lucia is Creole in origin having changed hands fourteen times between the French and English way back in the days of Sir Walter Raleigh and his types.

Tropical virgin forests and two volcanic peaks rising over 3,000 feet, a drive-in volcano, spectacular waterfalls, nature reserves, excellent scuba, golden sand beaches, romantic sunsets, banana and coconut plantations, historic forts, turtle watching, two airports, idyllic yacht havens and friendly people all characterize this Helen of the West.

Climate/Clothing: Subtropical with temperatures ranging from the mid-60's to the mid-90's at their warmest. Cottons and summer clothes are worn all year round.
During the cooler winter evenings, one might need a wrap or pullover. Casual resort wear is the norm except that some larger restaurants may require jacket and tie.

Language: English is the main language on St. Lucia. A French based patios, a legacy of St. Lucia's dual British-French heritage, is the dialect most often spoken by the local people.
